Hemu Township is the northernmost township in western China. Hemu Village is one of the famous Tuva villages and the farthest and largest among the three remaining Tuva villages (Hemu Village, Kanas Village and Baihaba Village), with a total area of 3,040 square kilometers. There are more than 1,800 people in the township, among whom there are more than 1,400 Mongolian Tuvas. The main ethnic groups are the Mongolian Tuvas and Kazakhs, whose wooden houses are scattered across the mountainous grasslands.

Hemu Scenic area has good precipitation conditions, with an annual precipitation of 600mm. The vegetation is dominated by grasses and weeds, the main types are fescue, Maomo, Zhuya, moss and grass, etc. The growing period is from May to September, the grass height is 20 ~ 50cm, and the coverage is above 90%. It is the main summer and winter pasture in the nearby area.
