The Ancient Ruinsof Gaochang is the largest ancient city site in Xinjiang. From the Han Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty more than 1400 years of history, the total area of the city is 198 hectares, the surface is slightly irregular square, divided into outer city, inner city, palace city , the layout is similar to the Tang Dynasty Chang 'an City. The city wall is ramped with loess. Today, the best preserved is the Southwest Buddhist Temple, where you can hear the story of the Tang monk Xuanzang and the King of the Gaochang Kingdom Quwentai.
